Long overdue - but I would give Allen and team a complete 5 star.
Our home was a remodel (new purchase) with limited structural changes but involved permits etc. Allen and team helped us expedite the design, selection and coordination process in 8 weeks. In addition, his detailed drawings and attention to detail is commendable. This helped us get more precision in our contractor quotes and the outcome was exactly as we envisioned in the rendering.
His calm, personable, and professional working team is an ABSOLUTE pleasure to work with. We suffered when we did not listen to him (e.g. going with another kitchen cabinet contractor) and would strongly suggest working with him on any future project.

Booking their FF&E service for our San Francisco penthouse was effortless. All custom furniture arrived and was fully installed two weeks ahead of schedule.
Our redwood city kitchen remodel came with a crystal-clear, itemized estimate that never budged. When a plumbing glitch emerged behind the drywall, the crew resolved it the same afternoon. We couldnt be happier.
We had a wonderful experience with Allen and the design team at Sofiov Design. Our bathroom remodel project resulted in a gorgeous bathroom. We stuck close to Allen’s design and are extremely happy with it. It is subtle and very elegant. Just what we were looking for. The floor to ceiling wavy tiles covering most of the walls are understated and yet quite spectacular. The colors are perfect.
We used half inch glass for the shower enclosure and it is substantial and yet at the same time light and airy. The nickel fixtures give the right touch of luxury. Wonderful.
Thank you so much Allen and Design Team at Sofiov Design!

From our very first conversation with Allen, it was clear we'd found the right designer. His modern aesthetic lined up so naturally with our own taste that we never had to over-explain what we wanted; he just got it, and then made it better. Allen and the Sofiov Design team walked us through material selections with patience and a sharp eye for clean lines, honest textures, and finishes that feel timeless rather than trendy. Every choice felt intentional and true to the home we'd pictured.
This was a big project with a lot of moving parts, and the team made it feel manageable and even fun. They were responsive, enthusiastic, and clearly cared about getting the details right. We love walking into our home every day and seeing their work. If you're drawn to modern design and want a team that listens and collaborates, we can't recommend Sofiov Design highly enough.

I cannot recommend Allen at Sofiov Design enough. We wanted to add a half bathroom to the laundry room in our San Francisco condo, and since this was our first remodel, we were a little nervous. While we only had a few vague ideas of what we wanted, Allen and his team made the design process incredibly easy and enjoyable. They presented several options that went far beyond what we could have imagined, creating a clean, modern space that perfectly fits our home's aesthetic. Allen was a delight to work with--highly responsive, detail-oriented, and mindful of keeping options under budget. We highly recommend them for any project!

Planning a home project begins with the right design direction. Whether you are building a new house near Vasona Lake, updating a home along the Los Gatos Creek Trail, or improving your current space in downtown Los Gatos, professional guidance can make the process easier. From the first conversation to the final design concept, we aim to make your project planning smooth, clear, and enjoyable.
Successful home projects always start with careful planning. Our design consultation service focuses on helping homeowners understand the full potential of their space before making major decisions. During the consultation, we review your current layout or new construction ideas. We discuss possible improvements, functional changes, and design opportunities. This process helps identify the best approach for your project. Planning early reduces mistakes and avoids unnecessary costs later. With expert guidance, you can move forward with a design plan that is organized and realistic.
Every homeowner has a unique vision for their living space. Our consultation begins with a detailed conversation about your goals, design preferences, and daily lifestyle needs. We take time to understand how you use your home and what improvements you want to achieve. This information helps us recommend design ideas that fit your lifestyle and personal taste.
A well-designed layout improves comfort and usability throughout the home. During the consultation, we review the flow of your current or proposed floor plan. We suggest layout improvements that create better movement between rooms, increase natural light, and maximize available space. Even small design changes can make a home feel more open and functional.
Selecting the right materials is an important part of any home design project. With many options available, the process can sometimes feel overwhelming. Our design consultants simplify this step by guiding you through material choices that match your design vision. We discuss flooring, cabinetry, lighting, fixtures, and color palettes. Each recommendation focuses on durability, style, and long-term value. This ensures your home remains beautiful and practical for many years.
One of the main benefits of a design consultation is developing a clear concept for your project. During the consultation, we explore design styles and themes that align with your ideas. We help you visualize how your future space will look and function. This stage creates a strong design direction before detailed architectural planning begins. With a clear concept in place, the entire project becomes easier to manage and execute.
Design should always balance creativity with practicality. During our consultation, we discuss realistic budget expectations and possible cost considerations. Our team helps prioritize the most important features for your project. By planning carefully from the beginning, we help you achieve a high-quality design without unexpected financial stress. This thoughtful approach ensures your home project remains both attractive and financially manageable.
