We had a wonderful experience with Allen and the design team at Sofiov Design. Our bathroom remodel project resulted in a gorgeous bathroom. We stuck close to Allen's design and are extremely happy with it. It is subtle and very elegant. Just what we were looking for. The floor to ceiling wavy tiles covering most of the walls are understated and yet quite spectacular. The colors are perfect.
We used half inch glass for the shower enclosure and it is substantial and yet at the same time light and airy. The nickel fixtures give the right touch of luxury. Wonderful.
Thank you so much Allen and Design Team at Sofiov Design!

From our very first conversation with Allen, it was clear we'd found the right designer. His modern aesthetic lined up so naturally with our own taste that we never had to over-explain what we wanted; he just got it, and then made it better. Allen and the Sofiov Design team walked us through material selections with patience and a sharp eye for clean lines, honest textures, and finishes that feel timeless rather than trendy. Every choice felt intentional and true to the home we'd pictured.
This was a big project with a lot of moving parts, and the team made it feel manageable and even fun. They were responsive, enthusiastic, and clearly cared about getting the details right. We love walking into our home every day and seeing their work. If you're drawn to modern design and want a team that listens and collaborates, we can't recommend Sofiov Design highly enough.

I cannot recommend Allen at Sofiov Design enough. We wanted to add a half bathroom to the laundry room in our San Francisco condo, and since this was our first remodel, we were a little nervous. While we only had a few vague ideas of what we wanted, Allen and his team made the design process incredibly easy and enjoyable. They presented several options that went far beyond what we could have imagined, creating a clean, modern space that perfectly fits our home's aesthetic. Allen was a delight to work with--highly responsive, detail-oriented, and mindful of keeping options under budget. We highly recommend them for any project!

We hired Sofiov Design for a large-scale backyard remodel, and we couldn't be happier with our experience. Our project had a lot of moving parts--including new flooring, a large pergola, an outdoor kitchen, a new deck, and a full pool refinishing. To make things more complicated, our house is situated on a hill, and the existing pool created some tight geometric constraints.
From the very beginning, Allen was incredibly thorough and attentive. He spent a significant amount of time gathering our requirements and carefully surveying our property's tricky layout and topography. He made multiple site visits just to ensure he completely understood our vision and the technical constraints of the hillside.
The initial design Allen delivered was almost flawless. We only needed to iterate on a few minor details, and he handled those changes quickly and seamlessly. He also went above and beyond by spending several hours with us at the material showroom, guiding us through our options for pavers, coping, and other finishes.
Our project is now under construction, and we are so excited to see it all come to life. If you want a designer who combines meticulous attention to detail with fantastic customer service, we highly recommend Allen and Sofiov Design!

As a first-time homebuyer in the US with zero prior experience in single-family home renovations -- and honestly, not even knowing most of the construction terminology in English -- I am so lucky to have found Allen as our designer here in the Bay Area.
We first met at my new place -- an old house built in 1957. While it's in a great location, the house itself, both inside and out, was extremely outdated and needed a full overhaul. Allen arrived right on time, warm and professional, immediately putting me at ease. At the time, I didn't have a clear and complete vision and could only give a vague description of the feel I wanted. Allen listened to me with tremendous patience, answered all my questions in detail, and proactively brought up many potential issues and risks I hadn't even thought of.
Within just two days, I received his initial design sketches. Over the next month or so, Allen guided me through the selection process step-by-step -- much like helping a kid build with LEGO blocks. He frequently traveled with me to various building material and decor showrooms across the Bay Area, helping me pick out everything from custom cabinets and tiles to tub, vanities, kitchen island marble countertops, and hardwood flooring for the bedrooms and living areas.
What I appreciated most was that Allen never forced or pressured me into making any decisions. Instead, he quietly safeguarded the entire project, helping me steer clear of all kinds of unexpected pitfalls. Thanks to his thoughtful design and full support throughout, the entire renovation process went remarkably smoothly. The transformed home exudes a sense of quiet, livable beauty while still feeling modern and refined. Every friend and guest who has visited since has been full of praise.
I couldn't be happier with the final result, and I wholeheartedly recommend Sofiov, especially Allen and his team to anyone planning a home renovation!

Starting a home project without the right planning can lead to confusion and costly mistakes. A professional design consultation helps transform your ideas into a clear and structured plan, drawing inspiration from the harmony found in San Mateo’s Central Park and Japanese Garden. At Sofiov Interior Design, our design consultation services in San Mateo focus on understanding your vision, space needs, and lifestyle goals before any construction begins.
Our experienced design team listens carefully to your ideas and offers practical suggestions to improve layout, style, and functionality. From the first discussion to the final design direction, every step is planned to make your project easier and more organized. With the right guidance, you can confidently move forward with a design that fits your home and budget.
Good design always begins with thoughtful planning. Our design consultation service helps homeowners explore possibilities and turn their ideas into a clear design strategy. During the consultation, we evaluate your current space and discuss how it can be improved or transformed. This early planning stage helps prevent design errors and unexpected expenses later. By addressing important decisions early, we create a strong foundation for your project. Our goal is to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
Every home should reflect the personality and lifestyle of the people living in it. Our consultation process begins with a detailed conversation about your expectations and how you want your home to function. We discuss your design preferences, family needs, and long-term plans for the space. This understanding allows us to recommend design solutions that truly support your everyday life.
A well-designed layout improves comfort and usability. During the consultation, we review your floor plan and identify ways to improve the flow of your home. Sometimes small adjustments can make a big difference. We suggest layout ideas that improve movement, increase natural light, and make the best use of available space.
Choosing the right materials and finishes can feel overwhelming when planning a home project. Our design consultants simplify this process by recommending reliable materials and timeless design styles. We guide you through selections for flooring, cabinetry, lighting, fixtures, and color schemes. Each recommendation focuses on durability, visual appeal, and long-term value. This guidance helps you make confident design decisions.
One of the most valuable parts of a design consultation is the ability to visualize the final result. During the consultation, we explore design concepts and possible styles that match your ideas. These discussions help shape the direction of your project before detailed design work begins. When you clearly understand the design concept, the rest of the project becomes much smoother.
A successful design should always respect the project budget. During the consultation, we openly discuss realistic cost expectations and available options. Our team helps prioritize design features that deliver the greatest value. By balancing creativity with practicality, we ensure your project stays financially manageable while still achieving an attractive result.
