We had a wonderful experience with Allen and the design team at Sofiov Design. Our bathroom remodel project resulted in a gorgeous bathroom. We stuck close to Allen's design and are extremely happy with it. It is subtle and very elegant. Just what we were looking for. The floor to ceiling wavy tiles covering most of the walls are understated and yet quite spectacular. The colors are perfect.
We used half inch glass for the shower enclosure and it is substantial and yet at the same time light and airy. The nickel fixtures give the right touch of luxury. Wonderful.
Thank you so much Allen and Design Team at Sofiov Design!

From our very first conversation with Allen, it was clear we'd found the right designer. His modern aesthetic lined up so naturally with our own taste that we never had to over-explain what we wanted; he just got it, and then made it better. Allen and the Sofiov Design team walked us through material selections with patience and a sharp eye for clean lines, honest textures, and finishes that feel timeless rather than trendy. Every choice felt intentional and true to the home we'd pictured.
This was a big project with a lot of moving parts, and the team made it feel manageable and even fun. They were responsive, enthusiastic, and clearly cared about getting the details right. We love walking into our home every day and seeing their work. If you're drawn to modern design and want a team that listens and collaborates, we can't recommend Sofiov Design highly enough.

I cannot recommend Allen at Sofiov Design enough. We wanted to add a half bathroom to the laundry room in our San Francisco condo, and since this was our first remodel, we were a little nervous. While we only had a few vague ideas of what we wanted, Allen and his team made the design process incredibly easy and enjoyable. They presented several options that went far beyond what we could have imagined, creating a clean, modern space that perfectly fits our home's aesthetic. Allen was a delight to work with--highly responsive, detail-oriented, and mindful of keeping options under budget. We highly recommend them for any project!

We hired Sofiov Design for a large-scale backyard remodel, and we couldn't be happier with our experience. Our project had a lot of moving parts--including new flooring, a large pergola, an outdoor kitchen, a new deck, and a full pool refinishing. To make things more complicated, our house is situated on a hill, and the existing pool created some tight geometric constraints.
From the very beginning, Allen was incredibly thorough and attentive. He spent a significant amount of time gathering our requirements and carefully surveying our property's tricky layout and topography. He made multiple site visits just to ensure he completely understood our vision and the technical constraints of the hillside.
The initial design Allen delivered was almost flawless. We only needed to iterate on a few minor details, and he handled those changes quickly and seamlessly. He also went above and beyond by spending several hours with us at the material showroom, guiding us through our options for pavers, coping, and other finishes.
Our project is now under construction, and we are so excited to see it all come to life. If you want a designer who combines meticulous attention to detail with fantastic customer service, we highly recommend Allen and Sofiov Design!

As a first-time homebuyer in the US with zero prior experience in single-family home renovations -- and honestly, not even knowing most of the construction terminology in English -- I am so lucky to have found Allen as our designer here in the Bay Area.
We first met at my new place -- an old house built in 1957. While it's in a great location, the house itself, both inside and out, was extremely outdated and needed a full overhaul. Allen arrived right on time, warm and professional, immediately putting me at ease. At the time, I didn't have a clear and complete vision and could only give a vague description of the feel I wanted. Allen listened to me with tremendous patience, answered all my questions in detail, and proactively brought up many potential issues and risks I hadn't even thought of.
Within just two days, I received his initial design sketches. Over the next month or so, Allen guided me through the selection process step-by-step -- much like helping a kid build with LEGO blocks. He frequently traveled with me to various building material and decor showrooms across the Bay Area, helping me pick out everything from custom cabinets and tiles to tub, vanities, kitchen island marble countertops, and hardwood flooring for the bedrooms and living areas.
What I appreciated most was that Allen never forced or pressured me into making any decisions. Instead, he quietly safeguarded the entire project, helping me steer clear of all kinds of unexpected pitfalls. Thanks to his thoughtful design and full support throughout, the entire renovation process went remarkably smoothly. The transformed home exudes a sense of quiet, livable beauty while still feeling modern and refined. Every friend and guest who has visited since has been full of praise.
I couldn't be happier with the final result, and I wholeheartedly recommend Sofiov, especially Allen and his team to anyone planning a home renovation!

A reasonable budget for a kitchen remodel typically ranges from 10 to 15 percent of your home's total value. For a standard mid-range project, you should expect to allocate between $25,000 and $50,000. This figure covers essential elements like cabinetry, countertops, appliances, and labor. High-end renovations can easily exceed $75,000, especially if you are changing the floor plan or using premium materials. At Sofiov Interior Design, we always advise clients to set aside an additional 15 to 20 percent of their total budget as a contingency for unexpected structural issues. To ensure your spending aligns with your goals, we recommend reviewing our internal article What to Ask at Your First Design Consultation: The 2026 Checklist That Saves Time, Budget, and Sanity before you begin. This guide helps you prioritize investments and avoid costly mistakes during your first consultation.
A $10,000 budget for a kitchen renovation is very tight and will require significant compromises. For a full gut renovation in the San Francisco Bay Area, this amount is generally not enough to cover new cabinetry, countertops, appliances, and labor. You might be able to achieve a cosmetic refresh, such as painting existing cabinets, installing a new backsplash, and swapping out hardware. However, for any structural changes or high-end materials, you will need a larger budget. At Sofiov Interior Design, we often advise clients that a realistic starting point for a modest kitchen update in Palo Alto is closer to $20,000 to $30,000. Focus on prioritizing your most important needs and consider phased renovations to spread out the cost.
For a kitchen renovation in the Palo Alto and San Francisco Bay Area, a realistic budget typically starts at $50,000 for a minor cosmetic update and ranges from $80,000 to $150,000 for a mid-range remodel. A high-end, luxury transformation often exceeds $200,000. Your final cost depends heavily on the scope, including cabinet refacing versus custom cabinetry, countertop materials like quartz or marble, and appliance selection. To align your financial planning with local market rates, we recommend reading our internal article titled Budget Planning For A Luxury Kitchen Remodel In Palo Alto. This resource provides a detailed breakdown specifically for our area, helping you allocate funds wisely for a successful project.
A kitchen remodel for $5000 is extremely challenging and typically only covers minor cosmetic updates. With such a budget, you might be able to repaint cabinets, replace hardware, and install a new faucet or light fixture. Full countertop replacements, new cabinetry, or appliance upgrades are generally not feasible within this amount due to material and labor costs. For a more comprehensive renovation, a realistic starting budget is often $15,000 to $30,000 for a small to mid-sized kitchen. At Sofiov Interior Design, we recommend prioritizing your needs and consulting a professional to understand cost-effective options for your specific space, as unexpected structural or plumbing issues can quickly exceed a limited budget.
