We hired Sofiov Design for a large-scale backyard remodel, and we couldn't be happier with our experience. Our project had a lot of moving parts—including new flooring, a large pergola, an outdoor kitchen, a new deck, and a full pool refinishing. To make things more complicated, our house is situated on a hill, and the existing pool created some tight geometric constraints.
From the very beginning, Allen was incredibly thorough and attentive. He spent a significant amount of time gathering our requirements and carefully surveying our property's tricky layout and topography. He made multiple site visits just to ensure he completely understood our vision and the technical constraints of the hillside.
The initial design Allen delivered was almost flawless. We only needed to iterate on a few minor details, and he handled those changes quickly and seamlessly. He also went above and beyond by spending several hours with us at the material showroom, guiding us through our options for pavers, coping, and other finishes.
Our project is now under construction, and we are so excited to see it all come to life. If you want a designer who combines meticulous attention to detail with fantastic customer service, we highly recommend Allen and Sofiov Design!
As a first-time homebuyer in the US with zero prior experience in single-family home renovations -- and honestly, not even knowing most of the construction terminology in English -- I am so lucky to have found Allen as our designer here in the Bay Area.
We first met at my new place -- an old house built in 1957. While it's in a great location, the house itself, both inside and out, was extremely outdated and needed a full overhaul. Allen arrived right on time, warm and professional, immediately putting me at ease. At the time, I didn't have a clear and complete vision and could only give a vague description of the feel I wanted. Allen listened to me with tremendous patience, answered all my questions in detail, and proactively brought up many potential issues and risks I hadn't even thought of.
Within just two days, I received his initial design sketches. Over the next month or so, Allen guided me through the selection process step-by-step -- much like helping a kid build with LEGO blocks. He frequently traveled with me to various building material and decor showrooms across the Bay Area, helping me pick out everything from custom cabinets and tiles to tub, vanities, kitchen island marble countertops, and hardwood flooring for the bedrooms and living areas.
What I appreciated most was that Allen never forced or pressured me into making any decisions. Instead, he quietly safeguarded the entire project, helping me steer clear of all kinds of unexpected pitfalls. Thanks to his thoughtful design and full support throughout, the entire renovation process went remarkably smoothly. The transformed home exudes a sense of quiet, livable beauty while still feeling modern and refined. Every friend and guest who has visited since has been full of praise.
I couldn't be happier with the final result, and I wholeheartedly recommend Sofiov, especially Allen and his team to anyone planning a home renovation!
Thank you Allen for making my bathroom oasis dreams come true! I had a collection of ideas and you helped me shape it into a beautiful outcome by choosing the right materials, hardware and accessories that all work together in harmony. We are so thrilled with the result!
The kitchen and primary bathroom in our house were long overdue. Sofiov handled design, permits, and construction from start to finish. New Island. better lighting, and a spa-style shower exceeded what we expected.
House stayed reasonably clean throughout and they wrapped up on the original timeline. Extremely professional team remodeling.
Working with Allen from Sofiov Design was one of the best decisions we made during our home remodel.
Our project was a complete transformation, including a new kitchen, living space, pooja room, and bathrooms. Allen was patient, thoughtful, and a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He took the time to understand how we wanted our home to look and feel, and helped us make decisions that balanced design, functionality, and budget.
One of the biggest advantages of working with Allen was his help with material selection. From countertops and tile to flooring, cabinetry, lighting, and finishes, his recommendations made the process much easier. His attention to detail was exceptional, and his eye for color combinations and materials was spot on. The end result feels cohesive, timeless, and exactly what we had envisioned.
Communication was always easy and responsive. Allen was open to feedback, quick to suggest practical solutions, and genuinely cared about getting every detail right. We always felt that he had our best interests in mind.
If you’re looking for a designer who is talented, patient, detail-oriented, and easy to work with, we highly recommend Allen and the team at Sofiov Design.
Allen was a fantastic partner to work with on our recent bathroom remodel. His ideas and knowledge where super useful to re-imagine our tiny bathroom. It became so much more modern and spacious and it 100% matches the 3D models he shared with us before we started the work. Highly recommend him and his team.
